About

Hi. I’m Sharna, a freelance illustrator living in Bluffton, SC with my educator/coach husband and Brady, our one year old Jack Russell. Since the age of three, I’ve loved making art. That’s when my mom set up an art studio in the basement of our home complete with a fingerpaint-friendly formica table.

Besides pictures, I’ve always loved words, too. So, I began my professional life on the creative side of advertising as a copywriter for an ad agency in D.C. Later, I owned a ceramic giftware business for ten years. Then, I created Chloe Pink, a girl power character featured in coloring books, a gallery show and many rewarding after school workshops. I’ve also worked in the nonprofit world as a communications professional and writer.

Originally from Colorado, I’ve now spent half my life up and down and around the eastern seaboard. My favorite hobby and source of inspiration is a daily morning walk. Whether strolling amidst the palm trees and live oaks in the low country, past soaring glass skyscrapers in Midtown Atlanta or through Boston’s Public Garden, I’m endlessly inspired by historic architecture, parks and urban green space, coastal living, interior design and city life.

The end goal in mind, as I work in watercolor, gouache and digitally, is to create classic illustrations with a twist for magazines, blogs, books, gifts and stationery. I also have a paper goods company, Little Desk Drawer.
